— The SkyBlue Way
Specialized Homes Deserve Specialized Insurance.
Mobile and manufactured homes don’t always fit neatly into a standard homeowners insurance program. The age of the home, location, construction, occupancy, updates and other characteristics can affect which insurance companies will consider it and what coverage may be available.
That’s Why We Shop.
We Listen
Tell us about your home, where it’s located and what matters to you.

Know Your Home
Mobile Home or Manufactured Home—What’s the Difference?
People frequently use the terms interchangeably, but technically there is a difference.
Homes built before June 15, 1976 are generally referred to as mobile homes. Factory-built homes constructed after that date in accordance with federal HUD construction and safety standards are considered manufactured homes.
But you don’t need to figure out the terminology before calling us. Tell your Sky-Agent® what you own. We’ll help you take it from there.
Not sure which description applies to your home? That’s okay. It’s why you have an agent.
Your Sky-Agent® can help you understand what’s included, what’s optional and where the important differences are.
An Important Coverage Difference
Replacement Cost vs. Actual Cash Value
Two policies can insure the same home and still respond differently after a covered loss.
Replacement Cost
Actual Cash Value
Replacement-cost coverage isn’t available for every mobile or manufactured home. Age, condition, construction and other property characteristics can affect the coverage options available.
Your Sky-Agent® can explain how the options you’re considering would respond after a covered loss.
The lowest premium isn’t necessarily the best value. Know what you’re comparing.
OLDER MOBILE HOME?
We Shop Those Too.
The age of a mobile or manufactured home can affect which insurance companies are willing to insure it and what coverage they offer. But an older home doesn’t automatically mean you’re out of options.
SkyBlue works with multiple insurance markets, including companies that specialize in mobile and manufactured homes. If one company isn’t a fit, your Sky-Agent® can keep shopping available options.
Older home? Don’t assume you don’t have options.
Location Matters
Where Your Home Is Located Matters
- Manufactured Home Communities & Parks
- Privately Owned Land
- Rural Properties
- Seasonal & Second-Home Locations
Location can affect available insurance options, pricing and underwriting.
Whether your home is located in a manufactured home community or on privately owned land, a Sky-Agent® can shop available insurance options for your situation.
That’s why shopping matters.
One type of home. Many different situations.
YOUR HOME MAY BE MORE THAN THE ORIGINAL HOME
Protect the Whole Home
Additions, Decks, Carports & Other Improvements
Have you added a porch or deck, carport, storage shed, garage, room addition or other improvement? Tell your Sky-Agent®. Coverage for additions, attached features and other structures can vary by policy.
Be sure to tell us how your property is actually set up so your Sky-Agent® can consider those features while shopping available coverage.
Your home has changed over the years. Make sure your insurance knows that too.
What Affects the Price?
How Much Does Mobile Home Insurance Cost?
There isn’t one standard price.
Insurance companies can consider factors such as:
- Age of the home
- Location
- Size and construction
- Condition and updates
- Occupancy and use
- Claims history
- Coverage selections
- Deductibles
- Other structures and additions
- Available discounts
Different insurance companies can evaluate the same home differently
That’s why shopping matters.
Your Sky-Agent® can compare available options and help you understand what you’re getting for the premium you’re paying.

Your Mobile Home May Be Just One Part of What You Need to Protect.
Many mobile and manufactured home owners—especially those with seasonal or second homes—have more than the home itself to insure.
Depending on the insurance companies and products available, your Sky-Agent® can look for opportunities to combine or coordinate coverage across your household.
Some insurance companies offer valuable multi-policy discounts when eligible products are placed together.
But the company offering the biggest bundle discount isn’t automatically the company offering the best overall combination of coverage and price.
Tell your Sky-Agent® about the other vehicles and recreational property you own. We can look beyond the Mobile Home policy and help you explore available options for the rest.

Frequently Asked Questions
Mobile & Manufactured Home Insurance FAQs
Straight answers to common questions. Still need help? A licensed Sky-Agent® is ready.
Give us a chance to shop it. SkyBlue works with multiple insurance companies with different underwriting guidelines, including markets that specialize in mobile and manufactured homes. The age of your home can affect eligibility and available coverage, but an older home doesn’t automatically mean you don’t have options. Let a Sky-Agent® shop the market.
Homes built before June 15, 1976 are generally referred to as mobile homes. Factory-built homes constructed after that date in accordance with federal HUD standards are considered manufactured homes. Not sure which one you have? Your Sky-Agent® can help.
Yes, insurance options are available for many homes located in manufactured home communities and parks. The specific options depend on the home, location and insurance companies available.
Yes. Manufactured and mobile homes located on privately owned property can also have insurance options available. Your Sky-Agent® can shop based on your specific home and property.
They may be, but coverage can vary by policy and by how the structure or improvement is classified. Tell your Sky-Agent® about additions and other structures so they can be considered while shopping your coverage.
Possibly. Replacement-cost availability depends on the home and insurance company. Age, condition, construction and other characteristics can affect the loss-settlement options available. Your Sky-Agent® can explain what’s available for your home and how the coverage works.
Absolutely—and your home may be just one part of what you need to protect. Many mobile home owners, especially those with seasonal or second homes, also own cars, boats, personal watercraft, golf carts, motorcycles, RVs, travel trailers, fifth wheels, ATVs, snowmobiles and other recreational property. Your Sky-Agent® can look beyond the Mobile Home policy and shop available options across your household. Some insurance companies offer valuable multi-policy discounts, but the biggest discount doesn’t automatically mean the best overall value. Don’t just bundle. Shop the bundle.
Standard mobile home insurance generally does not cover flooding caused by rising surface water. Separate flood insurance may be available. If flood protection is a concern, ask your Sky-Agent® about available options.
Can SkyBlue help if another insurance company declined or non-renewed my mobile home? Give us a chance to shop it. Different insurance companies have different underwriting appetites. A decline or non-renewal from one company doesn’t necessarily tell you what the rest of the market can offer. Your Sky-Agent® can shop the available options for your home.
SkyBlue is licensed nationwide. Available insurance companies and products vary by state and individual property, but a Sky-Agent® can help shop the options available for your home.
