Your Insurance Company Handles Your Claim
Insurance claims are reported to and handled by the insurance company that issued your policy. Your insurance company assigns the claims adjuster, investigates the loss, determines coverage, and handles payment of covered claims.
SkyBlue is your independent insurance agency. While we do not adjust or settle claims, we can help you get connected with the right insurance company and claims department.
Not sure which insurance company you’re insured with? Contact us and a Sky-Agent® can help you identify your carrier.
What to Do After an Accident or Loss
Make Sure Everyone Is Safe
If there is an emergency or someone is injured, contact emergency services first.
Document What Happened
When it is safe to do so, take photos or videos of the damage and gather relevant information about what occurred.
Protect Your Property From Further Damage
If you can safely prevent additional damage, take reasonable temporary measures. Keep receipts and documentation for any expenses.
Report the Claim to Your Insurance Company
You can typically find your insurance company’s claims contact information on your insurance ID card, policy documents, or the company’s official website. If you’re unsure which company insures you, contact SkyBlue for assistance.
Save Your Claim Information
Keep your claim number, adjuster’s name, and important claim documents together for easy reference.
Stay in Touch With Your Claims Adjuster
Keep your claims adjuster’s contact information handy and respond promptly to requests for additional information or documentation. Follow up with your insurance company if you have questions about your claim’s progress.
What Happens After You Report a Claim?
Once your claim is reported, your insurance company will generally provide a claim number and may assign a claims representative or adjuster to your case.
Your insurance company will let you know what information or documentation it needs and explain the next steps in its claims process. Because every claim is different, the process and timing can vary depending on the type of loss, the circumstances, and your policy.
Your Sky-Agent® Is Still Here
Although your insurance company handles and makes decisions about your claim, SkyBlue remains your insurance agency.
If you have questions about your policy, need help identifying your insurance company, or aren’t sure how to reach the appropriate claims department, your Sky-Agent® is here to help you get connected.
Need Immediate Assistance?
If someone is injured, there is an immediate danger, or you need emergency assistance, call 911 or the appropriate emergency service first.
For roadside assistance, towing, temporary repairs, or other services that may be included with your policy, contact your insurance company using the information provided with your policy or insurance ID card.
For help identifying your insurance company or finding the appropriate claims department, contact SkyBlue.
